Kathmandu to Pokhara
Kathmandu to Pokhara is a lower altitude route in the lap of the Himalayas. Low altitude does not mean, less challenging though as some of Nepal’s best trails are on this route. This route can be customized to your adventure and training needs. Details Below.
DAY 1- ARRIVAL IN KATHMANDU
Arriving in Kathmandu & transfer to the Hotel in Thamel, in the afternoon we will fix out our bikes and over dinner there will be a tour briefing.
Day 2- KATHMANDU TO NUWAKOT (900m asl)
We start our first day ride in the morning after having a breakfast from the Hotel. The first of the part riding is in the city which is very busy but still good fun, as soon as we cross the city we start to climb into Shivapuri National Park, and on the way we can visit the magnificent sleeping Vishnu temple. After we enter the National park we immediately join nice trails which are singletrack with undulating sections and great downhill. If the weather is clear we can see the Langtang Range. After big downhill we ride through the villages to our destination Nuwakot, the riding is nice and rolling, however the final 5 km is a hot, steep climb up to the hotel.

Day 3- NUWAKOT TO DHADING BESI (550m asl)
The ride is a little bit harder than previous day with a long climb to begin the day but still good views and trails. The first part of the day we start to head down to Trisuli which is the major town in Nuwakot. After riding through Trisuli we begin the long, steady climb to Samari Bhyanjang. As we ride we can see the local villagers engaged in farming Potatoes, Cauliflower, Carrots, Cabbages etc. From Samari we have a fast, but rocky, descent for 4 kilometers. After this descent is a rolling jeep track to Dhading Besi. Dhading Besi is biggest town in Dhading, where the people from the small villages come to visit the market center. The people are mixed cultures and casts in the villages.

Day 4- DHADING BESI TO GORKHA (1100m asl)
From Dhanding Besi we ride on broken tarmac for a 9km gradual uphill to a place called Murali Bhanjyang. From Murali Bhanjyang we take left turn and start to riding on dusty off road the trail is rolling up and down for a less than hour followed by a long and fast downhill. As soon as we finish the downhill then we have the longest climb for a day riding through the forest for 5km. After the climb rest of ride is interesting with great views riding through the villages till Gorkha. Gorkha is the birth place of Prithivi Narayan Shah, conqueror of the Kathmandu Valley and founder of modern Nepal. The main attraction here is the Gorkha Durbar which we can visit if we reach Gorkha with enough time remaining in the day.
Day 5- GORKHA TO BANDIPUR (930m asl)
Today is mostly on a road and a fast and easy ride to recover for the next longer day. When we start our day ride we have nice downhill, after this we continue on rolling hill through the forest and small villages with lot of farming. When we finish our half day riding, we have rest of ride on the road with a little traffic. The final bit before the Bandipur there is an 8 kilometer tarmac climb. Bandipur is the hilltop settlement with the amazing mountain views, a peaceful place to relax, and a beautiful historical downtown to explore.
Day 6- BANDIPUR TO POKHARA (850m asl)
Today is the longest distance of the trip. The ride again starts with a nice downhill from Bandipur. After this there are some long climbs on dusty off road trails and jeep track until a place call Damauli. This is biggest town between Kathmandu and Pokhara. We stop here for some refreshments then we have two options from here. The first is riding on highway to Pokhara and the second is taking the back road jeep trails. First we will check your riding ability and condition let you choose the option. We might arrive hotel late this day because of the long distance depending on our ride. The beautiful, relaxing lakeside of Pokhara awaits however making the long day worth the effort.

Day 7- REST DAY IN POKHARA (850m asl)
Pokahra is one of the most beautiful cities in Nepal, perhaps in the world. It is home to a balanced and exotic combination of spectacular Himalayan ranges, swift flowing rivers and gorges peaceful lakes, magnificent hilltops, and exotic underground caves. We have a choice of several fun activities like boating in the Lake, Paragliding, city tour or drinking with amazing views. It’s a perfect place for recover after the long trip.
Day 8- FLIGHT BACK OR DRIVE BACK TO KTM
Today after having our breakfast in the hotel we have the option to fly or drive back. If we fly it takes only 30 minutes to get to KTM with awesome mountain views if weather is good and rest of time you can spend for shopping. Or if we drive back it takes 6 to 8 hours to get KTM. This will give you the experience of how Nepali highways work and we will stop for lunch and photos during our drive.
Day 9- FLIGHT BACK HOME
We will arrange to drop you at the airport for your return flight.
