YAKATTACK

I first met Ajay in Nepal during the first Yak Attack race in 2007. He has since completed each race and is now the winner for the fourth year running. Ajay has proven himself to be an outstanding and committed athlete and has made enormous progress during the years I have known him. He works for The Yak Attack in Nepal, as an invaluable and reliable incountry recce. Having seen his potential and enthusiasm, Yak Attack has sponsored him over the years, with a view to aiding his progression and achievements; enabling his attendance at the Asian Games and Yak Attack races. We have also sponsored him by supporting him in two trips to the UK to undergo training with TORQ, in 2011 and 2013, for 3 and 6 months, respectively. Ajay is a very personable young man who makes friends at every event he attends, winning the hearts of many. His lovely character has meant that he has attracted many other individual sponsors, allowing him entry to races all across the World, including South Africa, Sweden, Poland, UK, Costa Rica, Austria and India. Ajay embraces and is grateful for each opportunity that he is given and gives everything he has with eagerness, enthusiasm and grace. He is a fine ambassador of Nepal and of mountain biking.

TORQ

It was a great pleasure and honour to have Ajay on the TORQ MTB team during 2011 and 2013. Ajay worked hard and performed well during his seasons with us and made excellent progress, with our professional training programme; always keen to excel and perform to his best, and always enthusiastic and committed. One of our team’s objectives is to set an example to everyone involved in the sport that high-end performances are achieved in symbiosis with generosity of spirit, courtesy and integrity…….Ajay proved himself to be a great ambassador for TORQ, mountain biking and his country of Nepal and we will happily continue to support and encourage him.

SMARTPAANI

I have known Ajay since 2007, when I first started biking in Nepal. During that time, I saw him perform ok at races, at the top of the field but never quite able to overcome the top riders; nutrition and fuelling were frequent problems for him. Then, in 2009, I witnessed him start to transform with his first victory in the National Championships, since then he has not looked back. Four National Championships, four Yak Attack victories and many other top results later, there are many things that convince me that Ajay is ready to join a professional team. Ajay's strengths are his knowledge, work ethic and competitiveness. What used to be his weakness (nutrition) is now his strength as he has worked hard to understand the way he rides over the past several years. He is dedicated in the way he trains and understands how to train and continuously improve, better than most riders I have met, including professional riders in the US. Already an elite rider who can hold his own among many of the top riders in the world, the next step in Ajay's evolution would be to join an international team and race regularly on the UCI and marathon distance circuits. Still only 26, he has many years of excellent racing in front of him. I do hope you will consider his application for the BMC racing team positively as he is a deserving rider who will bring top results. My relationship to Ajay: I have been in Nepal since 2007 and known Ajay this whole time. I have been competitively racing for 5 years, the last 3 at the expert level, including 3 Yak Attacks. Myself an entrepreneur, I am currently mentoring and working with Ajay to develop his performance tour and coaching business, MTB Nepal.
